Our client is recruiting for an Interim Group Financial Accountant to join their team in Northampton, who will assist them through the year-end. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with the senior leadership team to guide them through what is quite a challenging period. The Financial Accountant will play a critical role in preparing accurate financial accounts, managing accruals and prepayment reconciliations, and ensuring the company is audit-ready.

As an Interim Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in preparing statutory accounts, leading audit processes, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. You will monitor and analyse accounting data, producing financial reports or statements that will guide decision-making processes. You will coordinate and complete annual audits, provide recommendations for budget forecasts, ensuring financial stability.

  • Coordinate and complete annual audits, by preparing financial documentation for internal and external audits
  • Assist auditors by providing necessary information and responding to queries and then implementing audit recommendations to improve financial processes and control
  • Review of all central balance sheet accounts ensuring reconciliations are completed appropriately
  • Managing the Group Accounting Manual and playing a lead role in the adoption of new accounting standards across the Group where required, providing guidance on accounting treatment as required by the Group
  • Provide recommendations for budget forecasts
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger, by collaborating with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing and reconciliation of accruals and prepayments
  • Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and financial planning and provide detailed financial analysis and reports to support business decisions. Perform variance analysis and report findings to management

You must be a qualified accountant and can demonstrate that you are able to prepare the company for their audit. A strong attention to detail coupled with good analytical skills will enable you to excel in this role. Excellent communication skills are also required as you'll be collaborating with various teams within the organisation.

  • Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with relevant software
  • Qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
