We are supporting a Not-for-Profit based in the Midlands to recruit a Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is already a people manager of a central finance team. Paying £75,000 per annum, plus a very attractive benefits package.

The Not-for-Profit we are assisting educate 14,000 students with a network of schools based around the UK. The organisation has a history of supporting schools that are going through a challenging period, transitioning them into establishments that give students the best learning environment to develop and thrive.

Financial Controller:

  • Oversight and team management of Central Finance, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Systems and Procurement.
  • Management, development and review of financial accounting, internal financial controls, month end processes and year-end financial statements.
  • Preparation and presentation of the annual statutory accounts.
  • Financial Compliance, inclusive of VAT, PAYE and Tax.
  • Liaise and manage the relationship with the external auditors.
  • Lead the relationship with the finance systems provider (PS Financials).
  • Coach, develop and review the performance of 3 direct reports, supporting them and the wider team beneath.
  • Oversight of purchase ledger, credit control and leases register.
  • Regular review of the interaction between the finance and payroll systems.
  • Review of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain the risk register for finance.
  • Attend Audit and Risk Committee Meetings with the Finance Director.

Financial Controller:

  • You must hold a full CCAB or CGMA/CIMA qualification.
  • At least 5 years experience overseeing a finance function.
  • Previous evidence of coaching and developing successful, high performing teams.
  • A track record managing Central Finance, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Knowledge or previous oversight of payroll.
  • Previous experience leading the external audit.
  • You must have experience preparing statutory accounts.
  • Proven ability improving internal controls, financial systems and financial processes.

Financial Controller:

£75,000 per annum.

Remote based, with expectation to be on-site in Northamptonshire or London when required.
