Our client is seeking an Interim Group Financial Controller to lead their financial accounting team for a 15-month contract. This role is pivotal in presenting accurate, relevant and reliable management information for the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for all statutory accounting and financial reporting for the Group. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, with the main office located in Northampton.

What you'll do:

As a Group Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in leading the financial accounting team. Your primary responsibility will be to present accurate, relevant, and reliable management information for the company. You will oversee all statutory accounting and financial reporting for the Group, ensuring compliance with local and international financial regulations. Your leadership skills will be instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous improvement within your team.

  • Review and approve consolidated monthly and quarterly internal and external reporting for the entire group including subsidiaries
  • Manage relationships with lenders and external auditors
  • Prepare and file annual statutory accounts for all Group entities in accordance with accounting standards
  • Manage the Group Accounting Manual and provide guidance on accounting treatment as required by the Group
  • Lead and develop the Group Financial Controlling team
  • Review central balance sheet accounts ensuring reconciliations are completed appropriately
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.

What you bring:

As the Group Financial Controller, you bring a wealth of experience in financial audit and controlling functions. Your strong attention to detail even under pressure ensures timely and accurate month-end reporting. You are confident in your communication skills, able to explain complex processes clearly to senior figures within the business. Your proactive approach to problem-solving allows you to propose innovative solutions and process improvements. With proficiency in financial software/MS Office, you are comfortable using Google Sheets.

  • Fully qualified accountant with at least 5 years post qualification experience (ACA, ACCA)
  • Experience working within a financial audit and controlling function
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Confident communicator who can explain complex processes clearly
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with confidence to propose innovative solutions
  • Proficiency in financial software/MS Office; prior experience of using Google Sheets preferable
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and GAAP required
  • Excellent analytical abilities with a strategic decision-making mindset
