A client within the Public Sector based in the East Midlands is currently recruiting for a Food Safety Inspector to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a food safety environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to conduct food hygiene inspections of Category A & D premises, ensuring compliance with food safety legislation and identifying potential health and safety hazards.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Carrying out statutory food safety inspections at local businesses in accordance with current law, procedures, policies, and guidance, including occasional work outside normal hours.
  • Using problem-solving skills to assess risks, make decisions, and take action to ensure businesses comply with relevant laws.
  • Effectively managing workloads and maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of inspections, audits, and enforcement actions.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
  • Understanding of the Food Law Code of Practice Competency Framework, demonstrating the ability to carry out relevant official controls (e.g., inspection, audit, sampling, monitoring, surveillance, and verification).
  • Experience in delivering a range of Food Safety Official Controls as detailed in the Food Law Code of Practice within the last three years.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Experience in Health & Safety interventions in line with LAC 67/2 within the last three years.
  • Post-qualification specialism in food safety and/or health & safety enforcement.
  • Previous experience working in local government.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and, as such, is offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (approx. £37 per hour PAYE).
