The Legal & Governance Co-ordinator will ensure that the day-to-day delivery of the complaints handling and disciplinary assessment casework is managed to the highest professional standards and that the requirements of the Association’s Professional Conduct Committee and the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations are continually supported.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee day to day co-ordination of complaints against members and Company Partners, in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Develop detailed casework as part of the complaints management process, analysing evidence submitted by complainants and members, with support from the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations and Technical Director.
  • Ensure that communications issued to external parties are clear and demonstrate that a thorough investigation has been undertaken.
  • Maintain accurate records on the Company’s internal systems providing a clear and concise audit trail of investigations and communications.
  • Provide recommendations to the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations on how complaints policies can be best aligned with case law and best practice in professional conduct cases.
  • Assist in the development and updating of policies and process in support of professional standards, including Code of Professional Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for consideration by independent Professional Conduct Committee.
  • Assist the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations in the administration of independent Professional Conduct Committee.
  • Assist the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations in investigating misuse/unpermitted use of our logo and other Intellectual Property.
  • Assist the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations in recovering unpaid debts from individuals and organisations.
  • Assist the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations in the updating of Governance Policies and processes and further assisting with the maintenance of ISO9001 accreditation
  • Support the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations by conducting legal research where required.
  • Support the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations in the delivery of key strategic projects.
  • Write and submit any necessary reports required by our CEO and/or COO.
  • Supporting our Data Protection Officer in administering, processing and responding to data requests made under Data Protection Legislation
  • Assist Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations in the review of supplier agreements and other legal agreements and providing advise internally on the same, where applicable.
  • Assisting the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations in drafting contractual agreements as and when required.
  • Assist the Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations with providing internal departments, Board and sub committees with paralegal level support
  • Assist Associate Director Legal, Governance & Operations in the administration and processing of complaints made against our Services, in accordance with our procedures.

Key skills/experience/education

  • Legal based degree
  • Experience in developing casework and reports
  • Experience within a complaint handling role (Desirable)
  • Experience within a Legal Secretary/Paralegal role (Desirable)
  • Experience of construction industry (Desirable)

Salary - 24-27k plus 10% bonus (ote 26.5 - 29.7k)

HOURS OF WORK: Mon- Thursday 9-5pm, Friday 9-4pm 1 hour lunch.
