Job Description

  • Lead the function, ensuring that the supply chain is an active contributor, consultant, and decision-maker in strategic NPD, Operational, Sales, and Spares functions regarding the design, manufacture, and supply of seats and component parts.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the team in alignment with company policies, procedures, and values. Hold regular meetings and one-on-ones to ensure clear communication and strong performance.
  • Support Buyers with issue escalations and resolve high-level or critical issues.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives and industry regulations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage key suppliers to ensure high performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements to ensure quality standards, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both domestic and international suppliers.
  • Drive supplier performance improvement initiatives and conduct risk assessments.
  • Identify suppliers at multiple tiers and support the validation of capacity, capability, components, cost opportunities, and ability to conform to standards such as AS9100 and ISO9001.
  • Reduce inventory holding, associated transactional costs, and E&O.
  • Lead and manage Engineering Change implementation to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Identify cost-saving and value-adding opportunities, reduce material costs, lead time, and logistical costs while maintaining quality and delivery.
  • Define and track key procurement performance indicators (KPIs), including cost savings, supplier on-time delivery, and quality metrics.

Skills and Experience Required

Essential:

  • Significant relevant experience within a progressive manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills that ensure supply chain alignment across the wider business, empowering and motivating others while inspiring confidence and respect.
  • Effective time management skills, adept at multi-tasking and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Broad expertise/knowledge in aerospace seat builds, including soft trim, fabrics, packaging, consumables, fasteners, machining, extrusions, forming composites, and plastics.
  • Experience in negotiating and implementing legal contracts related to purchase agreements, long-term agreements, and vendor-managed inventory agreements.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and inventory control processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact at the highest levels of commercial supplier organizations, influencing internally and negotiating externally with suppliers.
  • Knowledge of auditing practices within the function.
  • Ability to present data effectively at all levels of the business.
  • A clean and current driving license is required.
  • Occasional business travel may be required.

Desirable:

  • CIPS accreditation or a relevant related degree.
  • Experience in aerospace interiors-related manufacturing.
