Omega is supporting a leading engineering company in the automotive and aerospace sectors, currently seeking a motivated individual to join their Manufacturing Support team as a Production Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in machining complex engine components, with a strong interest in high-performance engines.

Key Responsibilities – Production Engineer:

  • Lead new part introduction for Prototype and Production engines/components.
  • Design and develop production methods, jigs, and fixtures for New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
  • Produce CNC programs for 3, 4, 5-axis, and Turn-mill machines using Siemens NX (V12) and Vericut.
  • Manage the release of new products into production, ensuring targets are met for time and cost.
  • Implement cutting-edge machining technologies to improve cycle times and reduce tooling costs.
  • Collaborate with design departments to support effective Design for Manufacture (DFM).
  • Liaise with multiple departments to transition new products smoothly from design to production.
  • Produce and maintain process and test instructions for all product builds.
  • Assist in staff training program implementation.
  • Manage and report on project and part costs.
  • Estimate production times and costs accurately.
  • Work with the supply chain and develop subcontract processes to support manufacturing.
  • Ensure health, safety, environmental, and energy considerations are part of all activities.

Skills/Experience – Production Engineer:

  • Proven experience in machining complex components within automotive or aerospace industries.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (Degree or HNC minimum).
  • Strong experience in CAD/CAM systems (Siemens NX12 or equivalent).
  • Experience using Vericut (v9) simulation and SAP ERP systems.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of machining and inspection techniques.
  • Logical approach to problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Flexible approach to working hours to support projects.
