This is an excellent opportunity to join a large logistics business in Northampton Town Centre as an Accounts Assistant on a temporary-to-permanent basis. The role has been created due to increased workload, and the business is looking for someone to start immediately. After three months, they intend to make the role permanent, offering long-term career stability and progression.
This is a varied role where you will support multiple finance teams, gaining broad exposure across Accounts Payable, Intercompany, and Fixed Assets. Your responsibilities will include invoice processing, statement reconciliations, intercompany transactions, journal postings, and fixed asset depreciation. This role is perfect for someone eager to develop their skill set in a fast-paced finance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Processing invoices and reconciling supplier statements within the Accounts Payable team.
- Investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies and supplier queries.
- Supporting the Intercompany team with transactions, journal postings, and nominal code reconciliations.
- Assisting the Fixed Asset team with depreciation calculations and maintaining asset registers.
- Preparing and posting accruals and prepayments as needed.
- Assisting with month-end close processes across various finance teams.
- Ensuring accuracy in reconciliations and financial transactions.
- Supporting finance teams with ad hoc reporting and administrative tasks.
Candidate Attributes and Skills:
- 6-12 months of finance experience, ideally within Accounts Payable or general accounting.
- A relevant qualification (degree in finance, AAT, or similar) is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Confident working within different teams and adapting to various finance processes.
- Must be available to start immediately or on a short notice period.
