Job Title: Project Surveyor - Fire Safety
Location: West Northampton
Reports to: Head of Asset Strategy and Compliance

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to manage fire safety works across 11,000 social housing properties. You will ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, oversee contractors, and manage remedial works, ensuring high-quality delivery and adherence to fire safety certification standards (e.g., FIRAS, Certifire). Contract management and effective coordination with internal teams, contractors, and residents are key to this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review fire risk assessments (FRAs) to identify and implement necessary works, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations.
  • Develop work programmes, manage contractors, and ensure quality control and timely delivery of remedial works.
  • Conduct site inspections, monitor progress, and liaise with stakeholders, including fire safety officers, housing officers, and residents.
  • Manage budgets, deadlines, and contract compliance, providing regular updates to senior management on project status.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensure timely payments, and negotiate contractual claims when necessary.

Person Specification:
Essential:

  • Degree in Building Surveying or related field.
  • Experience managing fire safety works and remedial actions in social housing.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, building standards, and FRA obligations.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and IT skills (Word, Excel).
  • Full driving license and access to a car for work.

Desirable:

  • Fire safety qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Fire Risk Assessment).
  • Chartered membership of RICS or CIOB.
