We're looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school in Northampton and help transform the educational experience for our incredible students.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the learning, development, and well-being of students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide personalised support, helping each child reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt resources to meet the learning needs of each student.
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and communication skills, creating a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to maintain a structured and engaging classroom atmosphere.
  • Use behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and learning engagement.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs if required, ensuring students' dignity and safety at all times.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and external professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Monitor and report on student progress to the teaching team, contributing to regular reviews and assessments.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, encouraging students to participate fully in school life.

What You'll Need: While we value experience, we believe in passion and a desire to make a difference. We are looking for candidates who meet some or all of the following criteria:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, either in a school setting or through voluntary work.
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies such as working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or physical disabilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience - you will need to support students with varying needs and abilities.
  • Teamwork skills - this is a role where collaboration is key.
  • A basic understanding of behaviour management techniques or a willingness to learn.
  • A positive attitude, sense of humour, and a love for working with children!
  • Teaching Assistant qualifications (Level 2 or 3) are desirable but not essential - we provide training and development opportunities for the right candidate.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of promoting the welfare of children. (All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check).
