TimePlan is working closely with a Primary SEND school in Northampton seeking a full time Teaching Assistant to begin with them as soon as possible. The position is within a primary setting, ages 5 to 11 years and it will be as a classroom support assistant.

Duties

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to the needs of each child
  • Provide support to children during classroom activities, ensuring they are engaged and participating fully
  • Help with the care and supervision of children, promoting their social, emotional, and physical development
  • Work closely with children who have special educational needs, including those on the autism spectrum, to facilitate their learning and development
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to foster a positive learning environment
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, adhering to health and safety regulations
  • Assist in assessing children's progress and reporting any concerns to the lead teacher.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children and adults alike
  • Experience in SEND schools or a healthcare background is highly desirable
  • Ability to educate and inspire young learners through creative teaching methods
  • Familiarity with special education practices and strategies for working with children who have diverse learning needs
  • Previous experience working with children in various settings is advantageous
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed in their educational journey.

Role SummaryYour role will be to provide support either in-class, 1:1 support or to small groups of students with varying abilities, you will be encouraging and supporting individual pupils to reach their full potential whilst demonstrating a creative and determined attitude that will help motivate students..You will be directly supporting the students, as well as helping to organise the teaching and learning resources available to students and staff.
