Joining a leading IT Service provider with more than 40 years of history this is the opportunity to become an integral part of their dedicated NOC team with offices based in Northampton and DC in Milton Keynes on a hybrid working basis and without the need for shift patterns or excessive out of hours call outs.
The Role
As a Senior Network Operations Centre (NOC) Engineer you will play a key role in operational management of private datacentres, proactively eliminating security weaknesses for customers, and delivering core NOC processes and activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd line technical proactive support and undertake project work for customers.
- Analyze events, perform troubleshooting and incident response on related systems, and communicate with relevant teams or third parties for quick alert resolution.
- Collaborate with the wider Service teams to ensure proactive monitoring and alerting is optimized for existing and new customers.
- Maintain high levels of communication and engagement with customers.
- Ensure solutions are installed to appropriate standards and industry best practices.
- Assist the team with technical design, implementation, and support of customer incidents and projects.
- Resolve customer incidents quickly (on and off-site) with detailed root cause analysis using an ITSM tool.
- Conduct customer audits and create appropriate documentation.
- Create and maintain suitable customer infrastructure/service documentation.
- Manage change control processes and maintain digital records, both strategically and on an individual customer basis.
- Assist in the upkeep of UK datacentres, including occasional out-of-hours support for maintenance.
- Work independently as part of a team to ensure high-quality support for clients across their own estates, company infrastructure, or public cloud environments (mainly Azure).
- Stay updated on new and emerging technologies and necessary training requirements.
- Suggest and implement improvements for ongoing service delivery development.
- Monitor and resolve issues related to customer backups, DR solutions, and IAAS platforms.
- Assist with customer trials and potentially engage in ad-hoc Pre-Sales discussions for new sales opportunities.
- Serve as a key escalation contact for delivered products and services.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in a role supporting servers, networks, virtualized systems, backup, and DR solutions as well as M365 & Azure.
- Technical Skills: Proven experience with enterprise/mainstream technologies and applications, including Microsoft 365, Azure, AVD, Windows Server, RDS, group policy, AD, VMware, and Veeam.
- Communication Skills: Experience speaking with senior management on critical/high priority issues and managing incidents via an ITSM tool.
- Certifications: Industry-recognized accreditations such as Microsoft Azure & 365, VMware VCP, and CCNA are highly desirable.
- Specialized Knowledge: Experience with VMware vCloud Director and NSX-T is highly desirable. Core networking skills and exposure to private datacentres and/or public cloud environments are expected. Strong knowledge of monitoring tools and alerting systems is also required.
