Are you an Engineering Manager looking for your next role? A leading engineering company that maintain the largest onshore natural gas storage asset in the UK is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their team in Northwich, Cheshire. The Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in being responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of maintenance and engineering activities across their gas storage assets.
The Engineering Manager will provide strategic leadership and technical direction to the Engineering Team, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards while optimising asset availability and reliability. As a key member of the Site Management Team, the Engineering Manager will contribute to the delivery of corporate strategy and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities: Engineering Manager
- Ensure safe planning and execution of all engineering and maintenance activities, maintaining compliance with COMAH and SHEQ regulations.
- Act as Site Main Controller in accordance with the on-site Emergency Plan.
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Engineering Team, ensuring staff are competent, well-trained, and aligned with business goals.
- Drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Lead investigations into incidents and implement process safety improvements.
- Manage asset integrity and support the development and implementation of the maintenance strategy.
- Define and oversee spares policy, ensuring appropriate inventory levels and cost control.
- Monitor and manage engineering contracts to ensure value for money and service quality.
- Review and update engineering policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Lead and support Management of Change (MoC) processes and capital project execution.
- Forecast and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets in conjunction with relevant departments.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement initiatives to enhance asset reliability and availability.
Candidate Requirements: Engineering Manager
- Minimum of five years' engineering experience within major accident hazard process plants.
- At least two years' experience in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of COMAH and broader regulatory frameworks.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline is essential.
- Technical training specific to oil and gas assets is essential.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing technical teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
