Reed Accountancy Norwich are seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant for a temporary 3-month position covering sickness for one of our clients. This role involves a range of accounting tasks, including payroll, month-end routines, and assisting with statutory accounts preparation. The ideal candidate will have experience in a finance team, preferably within a charity, and possess strong analytical skills.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Post monthly payroll journals, summarise, and reconcile.
- Perform month-end routines such as accrual and prepayment journals.
- Post other ad-hoc journals and assist with the management of month-end close routines.
- Undertake control account reconciliations and clear suspense and inter-company accounts.
- Extract information from ledgers and assist the Finance Manager with ad-hoc requests.
- Help prepare statutory accounts for commercial trading companies.
- Answer queries from auditors, tax authorities, and colleagues.
- Contribute to the work of Institute committees as agreed with the line manager.
- Perform any other duties commensurate with the nature of the post.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Part qualification in a recognised professional accounting qualification or qualified by relevant experience.
- Prior experience in the preparation of statutory accounts (Essential).
- Previous experience of working in a finance team (Desirable).
- Strong customer orientation with excellent interpersonal skills to develop positive working relationships.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong numeric analytical skills, with the ability to interrogate and interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent computer skills, including email, internet, word-processing, and spreadsheet knowledge.
