We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience with level sheet metal mechanic, carpentry, and masonry work in constructing, installing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying structures and items requiring close tolerance fit, structural soundness, fine finishes, and decorative effects.

About the role:

You will be responsible for planning and executing work in the construction and maintenance of installation facilities, including developing and assembling items with complex shapes. You will apply advanced techniques and shop mathematics to construct, repair, and modify various structures, and perform masonry tasks for interior and exterior surfaces. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule Mon-Fri 07.30-16.00 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications.
  • Develop patterns, cuts, forms, joins, assembles, and installs items with straight, curved, or irregular shapes.
  • Apply advanced techniques and shop mathematics to construct and modify structures.
  • Perform masonry tasks for the maintenance and construction of surfaces and structures.
  • Follow safety practices and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Use and maintain a variety of tools and equipment.

About you:

You will have knowledge of carpentry, sheet metal, and masonry techniques, as well as safety regulations and environmental standards. You will use advanced shop mathematics for planning and laying out complex projects and have skill in cutting, shaping, and constructing structures with various materials. You will operate and maintain precision equipment and hand tools, fabricate items from materials like galvanized steel, aluminium, and alloys, and perform repairs on sheet metal systems. You will also inspect structural damage, produce accurate, finished products, and perform decorative brickwork, while interpreting blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications effectively. You should have an NVQ/ City & Guilds Level 1 or 2 (in an appropriate discipline, i.e Construction Skills), and a valid CAT B UK driver's license is required for the position.

This position may have certain restrictions to US citizens including US dual nationals due to the Status of Forces Agreement.
