Mechanical and Electrical Engineer - Are you a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical and Electrical Engineer with experience of leading teams?  Do you have experience in water treatment?

If so, we are looking for an experience Mechanical and Electrical Engineer in Water treatment and distribution to join the Industrial Equipment Mechanic Work Leaders at the United States Air Force 48th Civil Engineering Squadron, RAF Lakenheath.

About the role:

As a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to maintain, overhaul, and repair water treatment and distribution systems, industrial waste treatment equipment, and collection systems. You will lead teams in performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks and ensure that all operations adhere to established safety practises and procedures.  You will work 39 hours per week, working hours will be 7:30am – 4:00pm, although may include shift work to cover evenings, weekends and there may be a requirement to travel to the US to other counties for duties or attend necessary training.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Leading and planning maintenance, repair, and overhaul tasks for water and wastewater treatment plants and systems.
  • Examining and troubleshooting industrial plant machinery to identify and rectify performance shortfalls.
  • Utilising blueprints, sketches, specifications, and work orders to plan and lay out work.
  • Supervising preventive maintenance services and ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
  • Operating and maintaining a variety of test equipment and measuring devices.
  • Teaching and guiding lower-graded or other trades employees and ensuring a safe and clean work environment.

About you:

As the Mechanical and Electrical Engineer, you will hold a BTEC Level 3/City and Guilds/NVQ in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and be proficient in planning and leading teams for corrective and preventive maintenance tasks. You will have the ability to independently diagnose, plan, and complete projects involving major water and wastewater systems. Your knowledge spans mechanical, electric, and electronic procedures, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic systems. You are skilled in using hand and power tools, and various test equipment.

You have a strong ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, sketches, and work orders, and excel in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plant equipment. Additionally, you can handle and safeguard sensitive information and maintain the appropriate security clearance, possess a Category B driver's licence, and are willing to undergo a pre-employment physical. Flexibility to work overtime and travel internationally as required is also a must.
