Assistant Finance Business Partner

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Business Partner to join our client’s Finance Department. This role will be supporting the Senior Finance Business Partner in delivering a comprehensive finance function. The successful candidate will provide timely, accurate, and meaningful financial information to enable informed decision-making.
Day-to-day of the role:
Support Senior Finance Business Partner:
- Provide financial expertise to influence and support budget managers, enhancing business performance and decision-making.
- Offer day-to-day support to finance business partners and directorates, including posting recharges, journals, virements, and staff amendment forms.
- Assist in the preparation and review of revenue budgets in liaison with budget managers, ensuring adherence to schedules and guidelines under the direction of the Senior Finance Business Partner.
- Investigate discrepancies and report on revenue budgets and variances to managers.
- Ensure financial information is timely, accurate, and recorded in accordance with the service reporting code of practice, supporting year-end projections and the production of annual financial statements.
- Lead and maintain staffing establishments in collaboration with HR and the FBP’s for both councils.
- Strive for continuous improvement of processes and procedures, identifying and implementing efficiencies where appropriate.
Provide Financial Business Support:
- Lead the preparation of revenue budgets in liaison with budget managers, adhering to the agreed timetable.
- Provide financial expertise to support the Assistant Director and budget managers, developing a thorough understanding of the services to enhance support.
- Assist Leisure service managers and their teams in the effective use of the accounting software.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Part-qualified AAT qualification or relevant experience in a similar role.
- Strong financial and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
