The Role
We are looking for a Post Exchange Assistant to join our client in their Residential Property team to assist in the delivery of residential property legal services to their clients.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Post Exchange Assistant, your main duties will include:
- Preparing the memorandum of exchange and all post-exchange correspondence.
- Completing all Stamp Duty Land Tax returns.
- Preparing Certificates of Title for submission to lenders.
- Preparing Help to Buy submissions and relevant paperwork.
- Preparing completion statements.
- Updating Help to Buy following completion with regards to completed documents and registration.
- Updating the LMS and relevant portals with all post-completion tasks.
- Reviewing files to ensure Stamp Duty and Registrations were submitted.
- Responding to clients, solicitors, and agents' enquiries by telephone, email, or post.
- Liaising with lenders and various service providers to achieve progression on matters.
- Ordering searches and conducting appropriate Land Registry searches.
- Preparing completion statements and apportionments on leasehold properties.
- Arranging payments to Management Companies, etc.
- Conducting meetings and interviews with clients.
- Assessing legal issues and advising accordingly.
- Drafting documents and letters.
- Assisting Partners within the Property Team based in other offices, if required.
- Assisting in the development of long-term client relationships.
- Attending business development activities on behalf of the team and the firm.
- Pursuing referral agreements with local and national Agents.
- Promoting and cross-selling the services of the firm with all external clients.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
We would like you to have knowledge of Residential Property Conveyancing, and it would be helpful if you have experience in Post Exchange work. However, full training will be given.
- Ideally, previous experience in residential conveyancing.
- Experience in a process-driven environment.
- Ability to carry out legal research.
- Good at planning and prioritisation and able to meet deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Strong commercial awareness with strong internal and external client focus.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with keen enquiry skills and good follow-up ability.
- Excellent oral and written communication style with good drafting skills.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to work well on your own and accurately under pressure.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Extensive Case Management/Peppermint experience, although training will be given.
- Strong IT skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
