About the Role:

We are acting on behalf of a well-established and respected company in East Anglia to find a dedicated Contracts Manager/Legal Counsel. This role involves working alongside the Technology Transfer Team and current Contracts Managers, leading the drafting and negotiation of various agreements, including sponsored research, collaboration, commercial contracts, confidentiality, consultancy, commercialisation, commercial licence, equity and revenue share, material transfer, and shareholder agreements.

The appointee will serve as the commercial legal expert, playing a crucial role in streamlining and accelerating contract development and negotiation. Understanding the purpose of legal agreements within a research organisation and balancing economic gain with impact is essential.

Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking an experienced individual with expertise in drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements. The ideal candidate will have a commercial legal background with experience in intellectual property. You should be able to integrate rapidly into the existing TTO team and manage relationships with researchers and external organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating various agreements, including sponsored research, collaboration, commercial contracts, confidentiality, consultancy, commercialisation, commercial licence, equity and revenue share, material transfer, and shareholder agreements.
  • Acting as the commercial legal expert.
  • Streamlining and accelerating contract development and negotiation.
  • Managing relationships with researchers and external organisations.
  • Integrating into the existing TTO team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements.
  • Commercial legal background with experience in intellectual property.
  • Ability to integrate rapidly into an existing team.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
