We are delighted to be recruiting for our client based in Norwich who are looking for a Transport Coordinator. 

You will be working as part of a small team responsible for maintaining relationships with haulage suppliers. Reporting into the Inventory Manager, your primary focus is to be responsible for running the day-to-day transport from suppliers and ensuring that all items are stocked, monitored, and properly distributed. The role will involve the following. 

  • Daily management of CHEP pallet portal, declare/receive and ensure stock is accurate
  • Liaise with Head of Planning to confirm delivery schedule, inform Warehouse Supervisor
  • Day to day running of the haulage contract
  • Managing the relationship between our supplier of haulage
  • Answering both internal and external customer queries regarding haulage
  • Monitor and compare our supplier costs to report to the Head of Logistics
  • Be first point of contact for any transport queries at all of our sites
  • Support with the management of the Logistics providers and chase late trailers/containers.
  • Develop strong relationships with our customer contacts to include stock control/buyers/warehousing teams
  • Investigate customer queries relating to order processing or delivery/availability issues.
  • Manage any vehicle quality issues with our Logistics supplier and escalate any unresolved concerns to the relevant Managers
  • Support the Inventory Manager with investigations around transit damage
  • All associated Administration duties

We are looking for the following skillsets

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult or distressed people.
  • Understanding of the needs for confidentiality and compliance with service regimes.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Accuracy in completing paperwork.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Organised with good attention to detail
  • Good IT skills to include Microsoft excel and word
  • Previous experience with CHEP Pallet Management would be advantageous
  • Experience of stock taking
  • Knowledge of warehouse / transport
