LED Lighting Technician

Our client, a successful manufacturing business close to Norwich, are currently seeking an LED Lighting Technician

This a full time, permanent position working ion Norwich.

JOB PURPOSE

  • The successful LED Lighting Technician will be supporting the preparation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of LED display walling used in events.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for testing, repairing, and configuring LED panels, power systems, and control units before deployment.
  • This role ensures that all LED display systems are event-ready, minimizing failures and maximizing performance.

HOURS: Basic hours 8:00am — 16:30pm Mon - Fri lunch 1:00-1:30pm

Due to seasonal variations within the business these hours are regularly extended in the Winter, or may be reduced in the Summer.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • Experience in LED display technology, electrical maintenance, or AV systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing LED panel and signal processing issues.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, networking, and data transmission for LED walls.
  • Must have clean or near clean driving license.
  • Able to understand basic business finance concepts and calculations.
  • Must be a competent writer of business emails, quotations and proposals.
  • Well presented with an understanding of good business practices and ethics.
  • Proficiency in using LED control software (NovaStar, Brompton, Colorlight, etc.).
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, Art-Net, DMX) is a plus.
  • Able to spend one or two nights away per month if required
  • Must have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to work extended hours on occasions.
  • Sufficiently mobile and flexible to occasionally travel to customers both within and outside the UK when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare and test LED display panels, controllers, and power systems before they are deployed to events.
  • Diagnose and repair faulty LED modules, signal processors, and wiring to maintain optimal functionality.
  • Calibrate and configure LED walls for color accuracy, brightness, and refresh rates.
  • Assemble and maintain power distribution units, data cables, and networking equipment for seamless connectivity.
  • Perform software updates and troubleshoot control systems such as NovaStar, Brompton, Colorlight, and other LED processing platforms.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts, LED panels, and power supplies to ensure quick turnaround on repairs and replacements.
  • Work closely with event technicians and logistics teams to ensure timely dispatch and safe transportation of LED equipment.
  • Conduct quality control checks on returned equipment to assess wear and tear and schedule necessary maintenance.
  • Stay updated on new LED technologies, testing methods, and best practices to improve efficiency and reliability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification in electronics, AV technology, or electrical engineering.
  • Previous experience in motorsports, live events, or broadcast industries.
  • Experience with logistics and equipment management for large-scale deployments.

HOLIDAYS: 32 days per annum, including 8 days for public holidays, 3 or 4 days to be taken over Christmas shutdown
