Atkinson Moss are proud to be working with their client in search for a Group Sustainability Manager. The business is experiencing rapid growth and ensuring that this growth remains both sustainable and compliant is a fundamental pillar of the group’s strategic vision. This newly established role will serve as the central driver for leading the group’s sustainability initiatives and assurance functions. The position will consolidate and coordinate efforts across the organisation to ensure consistent and meaningful progress.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role will collaborate closely with operational teams to deliver a cohesive and strategic group-wide response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Group Sustainability Plan, including the roadmap to Net Zero by 2040 and advancement of the Carbon Accreditation Scheme
  • Coordinate sustainability leads across all locations and partner with the XLR team to support execution of the group-wide sustainability strategy
  • Produce the annual Sustainability Report
  • Support ESG reporting obligations, including contributions to the annual financial statements, ESOS compliance, and related frameworks
  • Lead delivery of sustainability initiatives, including carbon accounting activities
  • Maintain and support ISO accreditations across the group
  • Coordinate the ESG Committee and related working groups
  • Oversee environmental monitoring and reporting, including noise, air quality, wastewater, waste management, energy procurement, and recycling
  • Act as the group’s primary point of contact for all insurance-related matters, managing the relationship with the insurance broker and leading the annual policy renewal process, with support from the finance team
  • Engage regularly with the insurance broker to manage claims, pursue bursary opportunities, and align insurance activity with group developments
  • Work with HR and other departments to develop and implement group-wide policies that ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and best practice standards
  • Maintain and manage the group’s ESG and policy documentation library

Key EngagementThis role will involve direct engagement with the Executive team, Operations Directors, and both operational and administrative teams. It will also require regular interaction with external stakeholders, including:

  • UK Sustainability Group
  • Sustainable Aviation
  • Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) & Department for Transport (DfT)
  • Environment Agency
  • Airports Council International (ACI)

Person Specification

  • Ideally, proven experience in designing and delivering sustainability strategies, ideally with exposure to risk management and assurance functions
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Adaptable and solutions-oriented
  • Strong communicator, both verbal and written
  • Commercially aware with a strong attention to detail
  • Capable of influencing and leading peer groups
  • Willing to travel regularly, primarily within the UK
