We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual with a strong background in electrical systems and estimating to work on a variety of projects across different sectors. As part of a dynamic Project Management team, you will be involved in projects with values of up to £2 million, playing a crucial role in the successful estimation and delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Estimator

As an Electrical Estimator, you will be an integral part of a collaborative team, working closely with senior project management and business development teams. Your duties will include: • Analysing project specifications, drawings, and documentation to prepare accurate time, cost, materials, and labour estimates • Evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that all necessary information is understood and communicated clearly for successful project bidding • Identifying potential risks and opportunities within projects and developing strategies to mitigate or take advantage of them • Preparing comprehensive and competitive tender packages, ensuring that all inclusions and exclusions are clearly detailed • Collaborating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing • Attending site visits and client meetings to discuss project requirements and scope • Staying up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices • Reviewing and comparing quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating favourable terms where necessary • Supporting project and sales managers to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget • Maintaining an up-to-date directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors • Taking part in post-tender negotiations and project handover meetings • Continuously monitoring project progress and adjusting forecasts to ensure they align with initial estimates

Skills and Experience of the Electrical Estimator

The ideal candidate will have: • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical estimating or a similar role within the electrical contracting industry • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods • A solid understanding of construction processes and project management principles

• Exceptional numerical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail • Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently • A professional qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field (preferred) • Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIBSE) would be advantageous
