About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Operations Manager to join the Nottingham office. This key position will work closely with the Financial Controller to set and achieve monthly operational targets within the finance department.

As the primary point of contact for finance operations, you will play a crucial role in fostering relationships across the business, promoting best practices, and streamlining processes. The role focuses on delivering exceptional service to internal stakeholders, including fee earners and business units.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the finance operations team, managing 3 direct reports and overseeing a total team of 16.

- Align resources with business needs, ensuring consistent service delivery during peak times or absences.

- Drive monthly targets and efficiency measures, taking corrective action when necessary.

- Collaborate with team leaders to deliver consistent, high-quality service and address issues promptly.

- Identify areas for improvement and training needs, working with HR and team leaders to set and monitor performance objectives.

- Coordinate with IT and team leaders to manage system updates, ensuring rigorous testing prior to implementation.

- Ensure excellent customer service and manage expectations across the business.

- Oversee the management of absences in line with company policy, addressing concerns as they arise.

- Support month-end and year-end processes, including audits, working closely with the Financial Controller.

- Assist the Head of Finance in delivering working capital improvements.

- Handle ad hoc duties as required.

Required Skills and Experience

Technical

- Strong proficiency in Excel (including pivot tables) and Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

- Experience in a finance shared services environment (desirable).

- In-depth understanding of finance operations processes with a track record of process improvements.

- Good systems knowledge.

- Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic finance environment with varied responsibilities.

- Prior experience in the professional services sector is desirable.
