GBR Recruitment are working in partnership with a well established & highly progressive mild & stainless steel framework manufacturing & installation business, based in the heart of the East Midlands, recruiting for a Graduate or Time-served AutoCAD Technician (the client is happy to consider varying levels of experience) to join their workshop team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a AutoCAD & SolidWorks engineering professional to develop their skills even further & to learn other aspects of the operation, including assisting with project coordination, producing take off lists, ordering steels & fixings to be used in the construction / fabrication of steel frameworks.
This steel engineering / construction business works to BS EN 1090-2:2018 ex2, standards they are prepared to train the AutoCAD Technician in.
This role would suit someone who has worked in, or has a real interest in steel construction / steel erecting & fabrication.

Duties:
- Producing technical drawings / designs using AutoCAD & SolidWorks
- Supporting the implementation of new technical drawing systems / working processes
- Producing job sheets / job packs for the Steel production team
- Produce take off lists, plus ordering steels, metals & fixings.
- Complete galvanising lists & fixing lists
- Follow QA / QC systems
- Complete technical documentation
- Project coordinating / management
- Complete non-conformance documents when necessary
- Attend production / workshop meetings as part of the design team
Training can be given in:
- Workshop BS1090 ex2 compliance
- QC to ISO 9001 standards
- Purchasing & supply chain management
- Transport & logistics planning
- Drawing to fabrication
- Client management
Ideal Qualifications / Attributes:
- Strong in using AutoCAD & SolidWorks, plus Sketchup is useful (not a must)
- Engineering or CAD Design degree with an interest in steels / fabrication
- Engineering or Construction background
