The department has well-established multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) working alongside respiratory medicine, renal medicine, and the hand unit.There is a highly regarded undergraduate and postgraduate training program, offering ample opportunities for teaching involvement. A dedicated team of therapists and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) provides strong support for consultants. Additionally, consultants are encouraged to develop their own specialist interests.The Rheumatology Department covers a wide range of diagnostic categories, including inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disorders, metabolic bone diseases, and osteoarthritis. It is supported by registrars and Clinical Nurse Specialists, with access to specialized physiotherapy and occupational therapy services. The department is also responsible for assessing, following up, and monitoring patients. Additionally, joint and soft tissue injections, as well as medical infusions, are performed.Job Responsibilities:You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive Rheumatology service in collaboration with consultant colleagues. This includes overseeing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses, ensuring the proper functioning of the department.In addition, you will take responsibility for the ongoing care and treatment of patients under your care, performing clinical duties as outlined in your job plan. This includes delegating appropriate tasks and providing training to your staff as needed.You will be expected to cover for consultant colleagues during reasonable periods of leave, including patient care and supervision of junior doctors.Any responsibilities related to a special interest area will also fall under your scope of duties.You will be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, including teaching, examination, and accreditation duties.
