We are working on behalf of a specialist setting in Nottingham who provide education to children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. (SEND)

They are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join their school, working on a 1:1 basis. As a one-to-one Teaching Assistant, you will be joining a supportive and dedicated team working with pupils assisting educational activities and learning, according to their EHCP as directed by the class teacher and leadership and providing one-to-one support outside the classroom, as needed and to attend to pupils’ personal needs including the administration of medication, health care procedures and personal and/or intimate care.

What skills do you need to have?

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 for Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Experience of supporting children in a classroom environment
  • Personal care experience including feeding
  • Experience of establishing positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes and strategies
