The scope of the role covers managing the transport operations of a part of the business and ensures a safe and commercially driven approach to the fleet based in Nottingham.

You will be responsible for:

• Maintain positive relationships with both internal and external customers
• Reinforcing existing processes and improving overall performance while managing resources and maximizing driver efficiency
• Must manage the team, stay closely involved with the transport operations, and always know what's happening in the business. Lead, motivate and develop direct reports, identifying training needs to maintain a flexible and multi-skilled workforce
• The role will be responsible for productivity of the drivers, planning of the workload, management of the operations desk and ensuring that internal and external stakeholders' expectations are met and exceeded
• Supervise vehicle availability on a daily basis ensuring that drivers have completed their checks in accordance with company policy
• Contribute toward ongoing cost control, actively seeking to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs e.g. running and analysing cost centre reports

• Head of Transport
• Internal and external customers and clients

Technical Competencies and Excperience:

• Experience of Transport Management in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
• Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation environment
• Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical service
• Experience in Construction, Waste Management, and similar services. A small business where you wear many hats and not doing just one role.
