Who we need

We are pleased to be recruiting for a Development Worker to join our growing Foundation Learning team, part of the wider college Adams Campus team. We are looking for someone who is passionate, motivated and not afraid to use their own initiative to drive this role. Key duties and responsibilities include:

-Assist with the curriculum manager in progressing groups of young people aged 16-19 from low levels of engagement and achievement.

-To support in identifying and dealing with Safeguarding and Prevent concerns and referrals and liaising internally and externally to provide the necessary support to students and staff.

-Support driving improved standards in behaviour and attendance by accurately capturing and sharing information about our students and intervening to improve personal, social and learning behaviours.

-Provide effective pastoral support, working with students, parents/carers and teachers to identify issues and implement plans to support students with clear outcomes and deadlines.

-Supporting successful transition into the Faculty, progression to higher levels and retention of students, including input into progression discussions and reviews.

What you'll bring

You will be organised, a self-starter and ready for a challenge in this role. You will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, applying professionalism and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information. You will be able to work closely with learners to ensure that the Foundation Learning programme is inclusive and promotes a positive learning environment for all. Other key skills and experience include:

-Awareness of the social and cultural pressures on young people from a range of backgrounds

-Possess strong behaviour management skills

-Experience of using IT in a support or admin role

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and spoken)

-Confidence in dealing with emergency situations - behaviour/mental health etc.

-Minimum of 2 years' experience working with young people (age 16-25) from a variety of backgrounds is desirable.
