Role Overview:

My client is seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Alternative Provision to lead our sports-focused initiative, with a strong emphasis on boxing. You will be pivotal in managing, leading, and developing the provision, ensuring high standards of education, coaching, and personal development.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Lead the strategic and operational management of the alternative provision, integrating boxing and sports into the curriculum.
  • Develop and implement a robust curriculum that balances academic learning with boxing training and personal development.
  • Ensure exceptional pastoral care, fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to enhance student engagement and progress.
  • Collaborate with local communities, stakeholders, and partner organisations to expand opportunities in sports and professional boxing networks.
  • Manage and support staff, including boxing coaches and teachers, fostering professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, celebrating academic and sporting achievements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with parents/carers, involving them in their child's progress.
  • Manage financial resources effectively, ensuring sustainability.
  • Uphold all regulatory and educational standards, including safeguarding and health and safety policies.
  • Promote the ethos of the provision and enhance its profile within educational and sporting communities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership experience in education or sports, ideally within an alternative or non-mainstream setting.
  • Strong background in boxing, with coaching, training, or competing experience.
  • Expertise in curriculum design, particularly integrating sports into educational frameworks.
  • In-depth understanding of safeguarding practices and experience with vulnerable youth.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to student-centered education and a passion for empowering young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, sport, coaching, or management.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
  • Boxing coaching qualifications (e.g., England Boxing Level 1 or 2).
  • Leadership experience in a sports-based alternative provision.
