Academic Tutor

Are you a qualified teacher looking for a more flexible role where you can still make a real difference? Want to step away from the classroom but continue using your teaching skills in a focused, 1-1 environment?

Long Term Futures are working in collaboration with an alternative provision to appoint academic tutors to provide 1-1 tutoring to students. The setting offers a mix of vocational and academic programmes tailored to the diverse needs of students and have positions available for tutors in the core subjects (Maths, English and Science).

The setting are currently looking to appoint:

  • Maths Tutors
  • English Tutors
  • Science Tutors

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1-1 tutoring in your subject area to students in an alternative provision.
  • Adjust the learning experience to accommodate the diverse needs of students with SEN and behavioural challenges.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, taking into account where they are currently and the academic milestones they are working towards.
  • Actively participate in promoting the values and ethos of the provision.
  • Work in partnership with support staff and other professionals to deliver the best possible educational outcomes for students.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant degree/qualification in one of the core subjects.
  • Experience of working with students with learning, challenging, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
  • Excellent subject knowledge.
  • Previous experience in teaching/tutoring.
