Job Opportunity: Mechanical Engineering Manager
Location: West Bromwich, West Midlands

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified Mechanical Engineering Manager to join a well-established industrial manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for a highly skilled professional looking to take on a leadership position within a lower-tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) site.

About the Role

You will be responsible for overseeing the Mechanical Engineering & Civil Engineering departments, managing a team of 25 staff as well as external contractors when required. This is a key leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, personnel management skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall management of the Mechanical & Civil Engineering departments.

  • Supervision of mechanical maintenance activities and project engineering.

  • Ensuring the efficient use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

  • Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements.

  • Liaising with internal teams and external agencies, including suppliers, contractors, HSE, and insurance inspectors.

Candidate Requirements

  • HNC (minimum) or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • At least 10 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and maintenance management tools.

  • Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously and adapt to operational priorities.
