Main Responsibilities

  • Support and Assistance - Support and assist both the SEN teacher and the students with special educational needs, working under the guidance and direction of the teacher.
  • One-to-One Support - Work closely with individual students during classroom activities, while reinforcing instructions given by the teacher.
  • Inclusion and Differentiation - Differentiate the learning materials and methods to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Behaviour Management - Assist with behaviour management strategies, helping students with special needs to remain on task and not become distracted.
  • Communicate - Communicate with parents/guardians, providing updates on progress, and ensuring consistency between home and school environments.

Requirements

  • Have previous experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Have a good understanding of different types of special educational needs.
  • Be patient and empathise with the student.
  • Be adaptable and flexible as certain situations might cause you to make changes with little notice.
  • Be knowledgeable of safeguarding procedures in case any situations occur in the school that you'll need to manage and deal with.
