My client is seeking a dedicated Pensions Officer to work collaboratively with the Payroll Lead. This role involves ensuring the effective delivery of all pensions processes, producing statutory returns, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. The ideal candidate will provide support, guidance, and technical advice to Pension Officers and other key stakeholders, ensuring a responsive and timely pension service.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Process all pension work requests accurately within defined timescales, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Complete notifications to various pension funds accurately and promptly.
  • Assist in the production of annual returns and other Pension Schemes.
  • Support the Senior Payroll Officers with the preparation of year-end and other statutory/non-statutory returns.
  • Contribute to the service's overall effectiveness by training and developing individuals under the guidance of the Payroll Lead.
  • Liaise with customers to resolve pension queries related to data, processes, procedures, and regulations effectively.
  • Maintain and archive pensions data and records securely to comply with data protection regulations.
  • Attend meetings with internal and external clients as required.
  • Manage complex pension issues and support pension officers with escalated concerns.
  • Ensure the pension team meets legislative and organisational deadlines and requirements.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of system changes and projects, ensuring compliance with SLAs and project plans.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have extensive local authority pensions officer experience. 
  • Experience in pension administration or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of pension-related statutory regulations.
  • Proficient in using MHR iTrent and other relevant Pension Scheme systems.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and supportively within a team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
