Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Oldham, Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Full-time - Temporary to Permanent Contract
Salary: 16.11 Per Hour

About the Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and experienced Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at a well-established school in Oldham. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with diverse learning needs. As a SEND TA, you will be working closely with students to support their academic, social, and emotional development in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's needs
  • Support students with various learning difficulties, including autism, physical disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Promote inclusion and encourage students to engage with their learning
  • Assist with behavior management strategies in line with school policies
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to monitor student progress
  • Support in the preparation of resources and classroom setup
  • Help with personal care and mobility if required, in accordance with individual student needs

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of working with children with SEND in a school setting (preferred but not essential)
  • A strong understanding of the diverse needs of SEND students
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting students
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
  • A passion for supporting children's development and learning

Desirable Criteria:

  • A relevant qualification in special educational needs.
  • Experience in supporting children with autism spectrum disorders (ASC), ADHD, SEMH or other specific needs
  • Level 2 Team Teach certification
