SEN Teaching Assistant Job in OldhamHays Education are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Oldham starting ASAP. You should be available to travel and work between two different sites, whichever is necessary on particular days. This role will require you to assist pupils with their Maths, English and Science work, alongside engaging pupils in offsite activities including outdoor education. This role is temporary but has the potential to be extended based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored care and support to pupils with ESBA, ASC and Trauma
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Demonstrate patience and understanding in challenging situations, managing behaviours such as aggression, withdrawal, or anxiety
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEN
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting pupils with SEN
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Strong understanding of deescalation and calming techniques
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle
