The Learning Mentor Job

An Alternative Provision Centre in Orpington, are looking for a Learning Mentor to start in the new year! This is a a long term, full time position and will run for the remainder of the academic year. You will be working with young people across KS3 and KS4.

The Learning Mentor Skills

This Alternative Provision or PRU are looking for a passionate and experienced Learning Mentor who has a good understanding of young people's needs. You will be working in the secondary team supporting pupils on a 1:1 or classroom basis with their motivation and learning. You will have the opportunity to assist these students in activities that will further their independence and help them reintegrate back into mainstream school.

The Ideal Learning Mentor Applicant:

  • Strong behaviour management
  • Experience being a Learning Mentor is desirable but not essential
  • Have a passion for teaching students who struggle with mainstream school
  • Experience teaching within an alternative provisions environment or a secondary school environment
  • A patient, calm and engaging classroom manner.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Registered DBS or be prepared to carry out a new DBS application.
