You will be responsible for our client's Group Accounting Policies within the processes in the UK and overseas territories.

In this vital role, you will oversee and enhance the control environment for entities in the UK and abroad, ensuring robust processes and monitoring mechanisms are in place.

Description

The Financial Controller is responsible for:

  • Maintaining the integrity of financial accounts for overseas entities, ensuring reconciliations between local statutory accounts and management accounts are accurate.
  • Lead projects involving the establishment, restructuring, or closure of international entities, ensuring compliance with advice from Group Tax, Legal, HR, and Treasury, and keeping all relevant stakeholders informed.
  • Manage relationships with third-party accounting and payroll providers, on-boarding new suppliers, setting service expectations, and ensuring adherence to agreed control processes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and standardise processes, such as implementing a uniform T&E system across all entities.
  • Develop and maintain the overseas entity Manual, outlining processes and procedures to be implemented consistently across all overseas territories.
  • Authorise funding for overseas entities, balancing the need for liquidity with safeguarding Group funds from risks such as FX losses or fraudulent activity.
  • Provide relevant data and updates to Division Finance Directors, Business Partners, and the Financial Planning and Analysis team to ensure compliance with legal, tax, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Chair geographical meetings with Tax, Legal, HR, FP&A, and Business Partners to address overseas entity - related matters.
  • Respond to audit queries and ensure timely resolution of audit points related to overseas entities.

Profile

A successful International Financial Controller should have:

  • Professionally qualified accountant with a comprehensive understanding of accounting and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytically and investigative skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Effective and persuasive communicator, capable of engaging with individuals at all levels.
  • Experience in a global finance role.
  • Knowledge of key business processes and best practices.
