A specialist manufacturer in Oxford is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer with a background in Engineering or Manufacturing and management skills and managing two staff.

Responsible For:

Overseeing the quality inspection team to ensure that incoming product quality and outbound product quality are compliant to design / quality standards and customer requirements.

The control of processes covering raw materials inbound and moulded components throughout the manufacturing facility.

Support with goods inwards quality inspection as required.

Management and development of supplier quality related issues.

Conduct of the quality inspection of supplied GRP moulded components and other critical items whilst raising and facilitating corrective actions with the relevant suppliers.

Maintaining the company NCR database and supporting with the onboarding of and Integrated Management System ISO 9001/ ISO 14001. Support the production line with supplier related quality issues to promote a culture of Right First Time (RFT).

Facilitate rework / repair of supplier related non-conformances with both the internal and external composites suppliers.

Manage and maintain the quality inspection, moulding inspection, and final inspection respective dashboards by overseeing the quality inspection team. Prioritise the daily inspection requirements and targets, implement corrective actions from inspection errors, ensure that pass/failure data is communicated to stakeholders and monitor trends.

Liaise and develop suppliers via PDCA interactions to improve supplier performance.

Conduct goods inwards quality control for critical moulded components to ensure the capture, reporting and resolution of quality related non-conformities is undertaken in an efficient and timely manner.

Monitoring and maintain the company Quality Assurance database (NCR) for supplier related issues to understand the failure modes to improve supplier performance.

To liaise with the production quality engineer to understand the production impact of non-conforming supplied parts.

Providing QA data to assist the Head of QHSE and Supply Chain Lead in understanding supplier performance and in setting supplier targets.

Qualifications and Experience

Relevant manufacturing/engineering background

Certification in quality management.

Minimum of five years previous experience in similar QA role within a fast-moving production environment.

Leadership experience is advantageous.

Strong supplier validation auditing skills, with strong supplier development success and supplier APQP.

Strong supplier process improvement experience and supplier data evaluation.

Strong technical knowledge in the marine, aerospace and or automotive industry (preferable but not restricted to). Strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Strong experience of product inspection advantageous.

Ability to present data effectively, with excellent analytical skills.

Strong problem-solving skills such using 8D.

Membership of professional body would be advantageous.

Computer literate in MS Office and Adobe software

Experience with QMS procedures and good understanding and experience of robust Supplier quality procedures.

Strong knowledge and application of FAIR, PPAP & FMEA.

Knowledge of AS9100 (preferable but not restricted to), minimum knowledge of ISO 9001.

Understanding of ISO14001 and Health and Safety practices

Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.

Strong Planning and prioritising skills with methodical approach.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong Problem-solving and team working skills.

Understanding of cost and financial impacts

Key Characteristics / Behaviours

You need to be forward thinking, and process driven, working closely with Purchasing, Production and Technical departments be data driven and proficient with data analysis.

You will also apply a systematic approach to clearly communicate quality information and work with production engineers to resolve quality related issues.

Hours are Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm with some flexibility, competitive salary of c50k, Bupa Healthcare, contribution pension and free parking on site.

This is not a hybrid role and is based in Oxfordshire and due to the location you need to drive.
