Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager to support the effective operation of our 50+ bedded residential home for elderly patients. This role involves assisting the Home Manager in ensuring high standards of care, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the smooth day-to-day running of the home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in elderly care, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering person-centered services.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Team Management
  • Support the Home Manager in overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the home.
  • Lead and mentor a team of care staff to ensure they deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and professional development of team members.
  • Act as a role model, fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.
Care Standards and Compliance
  • Ensure the home adheres to all regulatory and statutory requirements, including those set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) or equivalent governing bodies.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of person-centered care, ensuring the dignity and wellbeing of residents.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks, implementing improvements where needed.
  • Develop and review care plans, ensuring they meet the individual needs of residents.
Operational Support
  • Deputize for the Home Manager during their absence, including managing staffing rotas and addressing operational issues.
  • Oversee health and safety measures to create a safe environment for residents and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and care delivery.
  • Manage budgets effectively, ensuring resources are used efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
Qualifications and SkillsEssential:
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a residential care setting for the elderly.
  • NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent); Level 5 qualification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and standards.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with residents, families, and staff.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience managing a 50+ bedded care home.
  • Experience with dementia care or similar specialisms.
  • Knowledge of budget management and operational efficiency.
