THE COMPANY

Founded over 60 years ago, this classic car association is one of the world's largest and longest-standing clubs dedicated to classic sports cars. With 6,000 members across 53 local groups globally, they offer enthusiasts access to exclusive benefits, including a monthly magazine, discounted insurance, and an exciting calendar of events ranging from pub runs and village fêtes to large-scale festivals and international car shows.

As this association tranforms from a volunteer-led model to a more centralised approach, they're seeking an Experience Designer / Events Manager to innovate, enhance, and manage their annual events programme.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Events Director and supported by a dedicated team of passionate volunteers, you will take the lead in delivering a diverse and exciting programme of events for the Club. These include major national events such as the large flagship weekend festival, a three-day extravaganza attracting over 5,000 attendees and operating on a £120,000 budget. Additionally, you'll oversee the club's participation in the prestigious NEC Classic Motor Show, managing exhibit planning, health and safety, merchandise coordination, and the selection of classic car displays.

Smaller regional events will also fall under your remit, from pub runs and coffee mornings to car displays with attendance ranging from 300 to 1,000 members. You will also collaborate with commercial partners to develop packaged weekend breaks and European tours, enhancing the travel opportunities available to members. A key part of the role will involve supporting the club's local chapters in creating engaging regional events, ensuring all activities contribute to an exceptional member experience.

Your core responsibilities will revolve around the planning and execution of the club's annual calendar of events. This includes managing logistics, negotiating contracts, securing licenses, and adhering to budgets. Onsite, you'll oversee volunteer teams to guarantee a seamless delivery while handling operational aspects such as health and safety, merchandise inventory, and the loading and transportation of equipment.

Audience engagement will be at the heart of your role, as you'll market events through e-shots, social media platforms, and the club's magazine. You will also be encouraged to bring fresh, creative ideas to enhance member retention and attract new enthusiasts through unforgettable experiences.

THE CANDIDATE

We're seeking a proactive and passionate individual who thrives in dynamic environments. You'll have a proven track record of planning and delivering events of varying sizes and possess excellent organisational and time-management skills. (Association or otherwise) Your strong interpersonal abilities will enable you to inspire and manage volunteer teams, while your hands-on approach will ensure you're comfortable with the physical aspects of event logistics, such as driving a van or loading equipment.

While a background in the automotive or classic car world is not essential, a passion for tailored, niche audience experiences is highly desired. You should be a creative thinker who takes pride in crafting memorable moments, remaining calm under pressure and excelling in juggling multiple priorities. A natural "people person," you'll bring exceptional customer service skills to the role.

This role offers a hybrid working model, with flexibility to work from home for much of the week while maintaining a presence in the Oxfordshire  office for inventory management and team collaboration. Weekend work during the summer months will be offset with time off in lieu, and quieter winter periods will allow for a balanced workload. Additionally, the office closes fully over Christmas

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a historic car club as it transitions into a lifestyle-focused organisation. You'll have the chance to bring fresh ideas to a community, working with passionate members and volunteers to create experiences that leave a lasting impact.
