Your new companyOur client is a niche education provider with sites around the UK and backed by a European group. They are planning to double in size over the next 5 years through organic growth and by acquisition. The Finance function is based in Oxford, although there would be some travel into London associated with this role.Your new roleThe Head of Finance will be responsible for the correct accounting in the finance system and the reporting for various businesses and holding companies. This role will report to the CFO, line manage the Finance team based across all sites and act as Deputy to the CFO. The role will be actively involved in the month-end closing process, integration work and across the group, working with stakeholders and implementing controls and process improvements. Excellent communication skills are critical for the success of this role as there is a need to manage a wide array of stakeholders, including many non-financial managers.A key element of the role is finance transformation. You will lead on the merger of finance systems between two companies and on the merger of finance processes and improvement of internal controls including but not limited to payroll, expense management, credit card management, bank account alignment, student finance management.You will provide support and reassurance to the finance team and business stakeholders through the transition of finance systems.This broad role encompassing all areas of finance will also have a strong business partnering element where you will work with budget heads to ensure alignment and understanding with spend year to date and lead on budget and forecasting collation.What you'll need to succeedThe successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with excellent communication, interpersonal and self-management skills with strong Excel and analytical skills. A high level of commitment to quality of work and meeting deadlines as well as the ability to cope under pressure and deliver during periods of change is essential.Good knowledge of Sage would be desirable, as would any relevant educational industry experience, particularly within Higher Education.
