Our client is seeking a Porter team leader to join them, initially until 31.01.2025

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Deal effectively and safely with all service requests and incidents within their range of competence, training and experience as required and by out of hours response where necessary.
  • Ensure that the daily weekly and periodic cleaning tasks are carried out to a high standard and meet the contracted standards detailed in the KPIs/ SLAs
  • Ensure that the individual planned and reactive service activities are delivered as set out below:
  • Services include - blood collection, linen delivery and general cage collection and removal, patient moves, general and clinical waste collection and removal, mail service, gas bottle delivery and provision of light bite service.
  • Monitor the staff numbers to ensure effective service delivery and contract compliance for all contract activities and service deliverables.
  • Recruitment and selection of all site staff in accordance with company procedures
  • Provide induction and on-going training in accordance with company and contract specifications and provide effective communication between all stakeholders.
  • Manage attendance, conduct and performance of staff in a timely manner in accordance with the company procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain staff training records up to date within their remit and ensure statutory training requirements are up to date i.e. Mortuary and manual handling training.
  • Ensure up to date site specific Standard Operating Procedures are held on site including relevant Health & Safety information
  • Ensure that the Porters Lodge is kept clean and tidy.
  • Manage labour effectively therefore reducing the need for agency labour ? Support the management team in providing a client-facing interface to ensure a high level of communication is delivered to the Trust and client. Job Description Portering Team Leader
  • Produce clear and concise written reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the professional image of G4S and the client at all times.
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all G4S & client employees and representatives.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Good Health & Safety Knowledge- ideally IOSH Managing Safely
  • Good working knowledge of Concept Evolution CAFM System
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Portering management processes to enable accurate allocation and prioritising
  • Good quality management and audit skills
  • Able to motivate and organise effectively with effective coordination of Portering teams
  • Enjoys Challenge and Relishes Change
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal - and good team working skills
  • Ability to approach problems and consider potential solutions
  • Ability to work carefully, methodically and safely
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to working
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to deal with many priorities at one time and act to ensure delivery
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, customers and managers to ensure the effectiveness of the Portering service.
  • Demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity by taking account of the needs of colleagues and service users and by treating other people with dignity and respect.
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Experience in all aspects of Portering services.
  • Experience in working in a healthcare environment and associated procedures
  • Excellent experience of coordinating planned and reactive activities.
  • Knowledge of legislation and technical standard
