Network engineer required by my leading Oxfordshire client

Are you an experienced Senior IT Network Support Engineer with a strong background in Cisco technologies? I am currently working on behalf of a client based in Oxford who are looking for an experienced IT Network Support engineer to join their team.

The Role:

In this position, you will play a crucial role in network design, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You’ll also be instrumental in providing on-site end-user support, managing existing infrastructure, and ensuring configurations are up to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Design & Implementation: Architect scalable networking solutions, create network topologies, and recommend hardware and software to improve service and profitability.
  • Support & Network Maintenance: Monitor network performance, perform routine checks, and resolve complex network issues.
  • Network Security: Implement network security policies, ensure systems are protected, and manage vulnerabilities.
  • Capacity Planning & Optimisation: Assess and optimise network performance for future growth, ensuring load balancing and performance adjustments are made as needed.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, train team members on new technologies, and review/approve network changes.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed network documentation, generate performance and security reports for management, and manage network projects and engineer schedules.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience: 4-5 years in a similar role with proven ability to form lasting customer relationships.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in Cisco routers, switches, firewalls (Fortinet).
    • Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, IT security).
    • Experience with Windows Server Administration (2016, 2019, Server 2022).
    • Familiarity with Windows Hyper-V, Active Directory/Azure AD, Office 365, and Intune.
    • Experience supporting Windows 10/11, Apple devices, and managing MDM (Meraki).
    • Understanding of Backup Technologies and Disaster Recovery processes.
  • Communication Skills: High-level written and verbal communication skills to liaise with both technical and non-technical teams.
