Your role as a Mental Health Assistant will be a rewarding one. Your day to day will be busy and your role will have various responsibilities but you will be responsible for supporting the students who struggle to cope with their course work for various reasons. Some of these students struggle with school avoidance, some struggle with additional learning needs. Some struggle with difficulties such as ASD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and OCD. Other also have mental health needs that stem from stress and anxiety.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will facilitate a safe and fun learning environment and play a huge role in helping children feel engaged and supported during the school day.
To be successful in this role as a Mental Health Assistant, you should have the following:
You should have some experience working with children but above all, nothing beats an enthusiastic and positive personality. You should be compassionate and friendly. You should be able to take initiative well and problem solve. Many of the children will have personalised educational plans and you will need to change your approach to meet their needs. You should have an understanding of the importance of safeguarding. You should hold an Enhanced DBS Check.
