Aspiring Psychologist - Mental Health Assistant

An amazing role has recent become available in a lovely school in Oxford to join a supportive and friendly team as a Mental Health Assistant. The role would be to start as soon as possible.

Your role as a Mental Health Assistant will be a rewarding one. Not only will you be gaining valuable experience day in and out, you will also be making a difference and empowering these students to thrive and enjoy learning. It will also provide you will valuable experience that will be sure to set you up for any career path you choose.

Your day to day will be busy and your role will have various responsibilities but you will be responsible for supporting the students who struggle to cope with their course work for various reasons. Some of these students struggle with school avoidance, some struggle with additional learning needs. Some struggle with difficulties such as ASD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and OCD. Other also have mental health needs that stem from stress and anxiety.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will facilitate a safe and fun learning environment and play a huge role in helping children feel engaged and supported during the school day.

You should have some experience working with children but above all, nothing beats an enthusiastic and positive personality. You should be compassionate and friendly. You should be able to take initiative well and problem solve. Many of the children will have personalised educational plans and you will need to change your approach to meet their needs. You should have an understanding of the importance of safeguarding. You should hold an Enhanced DBS Check.
