Mental Health Assistant - Oxford - September - Psychology Graduates

An outstanding school in the Oxford area are looking for a Mental Health Assistant to join their team in the beginning of September 2024. The school provide education to students facing differing social, emotional and mental health needs and want a pro-active individuals to join their classrooms and provide guidance and mentorship to students facing mental health challenges.

The school are looking for a candidate that is confident in following their own initiative and has a deeper understanding of mental health. While working as a Mental Health Assistant, you will be responsible for being the first line of support for the student throughout the school day. You will be working as a Mental Health Assistant on a 1-1 basis with students across the school. The responsibility of performing mental health observations and facilitating a positive and encouraging environment will be that of a Mental Health Assistant.

The school have a brilliant support team, ensuring the students AND the staff have the relevant support and back up during their career at the school. The Oxford education centre has access to fantastic community links and opportunities, as well as internal professionals working on-site to ensure student and staff safety at all times.

The successful Mental Health Assistant must be willing to:

  • Work on a 1-1 basis with students with challenging behaviour
  • Participate in team meetings discussing next steps and plans for students
  • Identify trigger areas and potential areas of improvement for students
