Mental Health Youth Support - Cowley

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Youth Support Assistant to join a lovely supportive team and one of our highly regarded specialist schools in Cowley.

They place a huge focus on supporting students who have been identified as struggling with social, emotional and mental health needs, and ensure they are being met with the necessary interventions to support their development and education.

In this role, you will provided specialised and tailored support to students who struggle with their mental health and social needs, and ensure that they are being given the right tools to facilitate healthy mental well-being while also supporting their emotional health.

Your responsibilities as a Mental Health Youth Support Assistant:

  • Help develop and implement individual support plans in collaboration with educational staff
  • Collaborate with parents and caregivers to offer guidance and support
  • Assist with classroom activities, ensuring students are engaged and participating
  • Monitor and document student feedback
  • Work directly with students to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Maintain a safe and positive learning environment

Qualities you need to be a great Mental Health Youth Support Assistant:

  • Patience, empathy and genuine passion for supporting children
  • An understanding of the importance of safeguarding children
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience supporting children and young people with educational needs and social, emotional and mental health needs will be beneficial but not essential
  • Psychology graduates looking for hands on experience are encouraged to apply
