Lead Java Developer - 12-Month Fixed Term Contract - Hybrid - Oxford
Are you a passionate leader in the field of technology, eager to tackle challenging projects in a dynamic agile environment? Our client is seeking an experienced Java Developer to join their digital development team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, offering up to 75,000.
As a Lead Developer, you will guide a talented team to develop core software components and integrated systems, ensuring digital delivery excellence. This role involves close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to drive key decisions on technology solutions and maintain the client's digital applications. You will work hands-on with your development team, providing technical direction and support to ensure success.
Your responsibilities will include supervising two people in the digital development team and directing coding efforts to enhance website performance. You will be instrumental in hiring and onboarding team members internationally, shaping product design alongside your teammates and the architecture team, and overseeing the maintenance and break-fix of production systems. Additionally, you will conduct peer reviews to ensure code quality and performance, provide technical support and solutions to digital operations and product teams, and organise and host sprint ceremonies while supervising third-party development teams.
To be successful in this role, you should have extensive experience in IT development and digital delivery leadership. You should possess strong technical decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities, with proven experience in supervising technology service providers and agile project deliveries. Proficiency in Java (version 8 and above), Spring Framework, Hibernate, MySQL, and Solr is essential. Additionally, knowledge of hosting technologies, cloud platforms (Azure preferred - although other cloud platform experience is fine), and e-commerce website development is preferential, along with experience in CI/CD, DevOps, and various source code management tools.
