The learners have SEN, SEMH but particularly PDA, ASD, EBSA and ADHD. Due to these challenges, they have experienced a significant amount of time out of school. The Oxford based school needs a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant.

This opportunity is looking for a empathetic, patient, enthusiastic and professional educator who is looking to make an impact on a young persons educational journey. The gaps in their academic ability need filling in but also re-establishing a love for learning through tailored tuition.

Key Responsibilities - 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the learner, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit the learner's SEMH and ASD needs, ensuring a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Monitor the learner's progress and adjust the learning plan as necessary.
  • Encourage and motivate the learner to stay focused on their academic goals.
  • To plan your weekly timetable of when sessions will be delivered, and to also provide lesson reports and attendance status' each time a session takes place.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with learners who have SEMH and SEN needs.
  • Experience supporting SEN learners with ASD, ADHD & PDA in 1:1 and small group settings.
  • Knowledge of English, Maths and/or Science curriculum from KS1-GCSE.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of the learner.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students achieve their full potential.

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
