Location: Hybrid – Minimum 2 days per week in Head Office (Chalgrove)
Hours: Part-time – 28 hours per week
Salary: Circa £37k pro rata (£29.6k actual)

About the Charity:
They are a UK-wide charity enabling volunteers to share the joy of their pets with those in need. Founded in 1983, they have a long history of improving mental health and wellbeing through the unique bond between humans and animals. Their volunteers and Pets visit hospitals, care homes, schools, and other community settings, bringing comfort, companionship, and connection to people of all ages. They also help children build confidence in reading – their Pets are great listeners!
The Role:
Volunteers are at the heart of the charity, and as Volunteer Experience Manager, you’ll ensure they have a rewarding and seamless experience. You will lead on the development and implementation of strategies to grow the volunteer community from 5,700 to 10,000 over the next five years, while managing a small, dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a Volunteer Engagement Strategy to enhance volunteer experience Lead volunteer recruitment, increasing numbers significantly. Oversee a small team, ensuring excellent volunteer support. Streamline recruitment processes to be efficient and safe. Maintain up-to-date volunteer policies and procedures. Manage volunteer training, including the eLearning platform. Ensure effective communication with volunteers via newsletters and updates. Support volunteers in using the charity's CRM portal. Act as their safeguarding lead and stay updated on best practices.Â
Who They’re Looking For:Â
Significant experience in volunteer management and understanding of best practices. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and strategic thinking abilities. Knowledge of safeguarding policies. Experience in managing safeguarding issue with volunteers. Experience using CRM systems for volunteer management. A flexible, non-judgemental approach to people and work. Strong numeracy skills to transform data into meaningful reports and action plans. And most importantly, you will have a passion for volunteering and a deep appreciation for the incredible human-animal bond.Â
